Specifically on behalf of creative people, Mr. Hubbard saw to the founding of Celebrity Centre. These special Churches of Scientology offer the same services that all Scientology Churches offer, but in an environment that is particularly amenable to the artist. Thus, no matter how famous an artist may be, he or she will be able to pursue Dianetics and Scientology in the distraction-free and secure setting of the Celebrity Centre. The Celebrity Centre also provides special services to help artists—both accomplished and novice—apply Scientology principles to their fields, and thereby help them improve their ability to work a positive influence on society. They further provide the up-and-coming celebrity with forums for the production of theatrical performances, literary readings, concerts and all else Mr. Hubbard described as that glorious activity we call art.

     “The elevation of a culture,” he firmly declared, “can be measured directly by the numbers of its people working in the field of aesthetics.” Through his various instructional materials—for photographers, filmmakers, authors and musicians—he has thus far inspired thousands. While through his Writers of the Future program, he has directly launched the careers of several hundred more. But when considering L. Ron Hubbard’s greater legacy, including all that is possible with Dianetics and Scientology, then his contribution cannot be measured in less than millions. For as he also very firmly declared, works of art are not only about artists. Rather, “They are heard by people. They are felt by people. They are not just the fodder of a close-knit group of initiates. They are the soul food of all people.”
